Management Improvement

The state of current management practice leaves much to be desired. Here we aid those intreseted in moving to more effective management strategires. We believe manufacturing continues to improve but other areas of management are not keeping up with those improvements.

W. Edwards Deming proposed many ideas for improving management. See our companion web resouce: Deming on Management. Lean thinking (and other "lean" concept) are based on the practice of Toyota which is largely shaped by Deming's ideas.

Shoichiro Toyoda, Honorary Chairman and director of Toyota: “There is not a day I don't think about what Dr. Deming meant to us. Deming is the core of our management.”

Another popular management practice is six sigma. The practice of six sigma varies from organization to organization. However, six sigma efforts often focus on cost savings, application of advanced statistical tools by an elite group of "black belts" and short term projects with measurable results.
